Lunaria the transparent translucent flower

at night

in the day light, makes a beautiful mobile

'Lunaria annua' is commonly known as Honesty or Silverdollar or Money plant, and has the wonderful particularity that when hit by light it becomes pearlescent... So i wanted to catch that magic quality and I created a lamp with it !  For this lamp, I used over 1250 flowers and over 200 seeds of Lunaria annua... it's about 2 feet tall and a foot 1/2 large and built on a wooden circular frame.
This unique piece was made mostly with Lunaria annua, but also buttercup, hydrangea, fern, bougainvillea, fushia, heather...

  1. This is beautiful and a very creative way to showcase this amazing plant. I stumbled onto a "forest" of these plants growing in a closeby wooded area and have been gathering them. I found your project here while searching for ideas of how to creatively turn them into home decor to enjoy. I've examined the closeup you posted and plan to try making one going by your photo(s) and comments. I wonder, how is it holding up over time? Any special coatings needed to prevent the flowers from breaking down? Again, this unique lamp(shade) is a true beauty!
